In July 2025, my Outreach Director, Eric Cowden, met with Carmichaels Borough Council to share information about grant opportunities to help update and modernize local infrastructure, including guidance on how to apply.

Fast forward to this week, and we were thrilled to present Carmichaels Borough with a $254,307 Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) grant for Phase I of its Sidewalk Connectivity Project!

This funding will help address deteriorating sidewalks and ADA accessibility issues along East George Street and around Center Town Square, making these areas safer and more accessible for the community.

Congratulations to Carmichaels Borough Council and everyone involved! Itโ€™s great to see these conversations turn into funding that can make a real difference in our communities. ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›๐ŸŽƒ I was terrified (but in the best way possible!) to get a behind-the-scenes look at the first-ever Rices Landing VFD Haunted Hayride! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I recently met with Rices Landing Vfd to discuss funding opportunities and helped secure the permits needed for the hayrides.

Your spooky journey starts at the old bank, where youโ€™ll hop aboard a hayride and head into the darkness of Pumpkin Run Park. Once you arrive, the scares continue as you make your way through a haunted maze before returning to the old bank.

The fun begins Friday night! Dates are October 16โ€“17, 23โ€“24 & 30โ€“31 - Check out their event page for all the details: tinyurl.com/bdz5nkaf

An exciting day for the 46th District! I was proud to support the Goodwin Tombaugh System Modernization Project when it got underway seven years ago, and it was great to join ๐—˜๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—จ๐˜๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ CEO and Chairman Chris Franklin, Peoples President Michael Huwar, and other local leaders to mark this milestone.

More than 300 miles of pipeline have been modernized, an investment that strengthens public safety, improves reliability and preserves natural gas access for about 1,600 customers across rural Greene, Washington and Allegheny counties.

We all signed the final piece of pipe, marking a big step toward safer, more reliable energy for rural Southwestern Pennsylvania.

๐Ÿพ Coalbieโ€™s Warrior Walk reminds us how much it matters to protect kids from trauma and make sure families can get the help they need.

Over the past week, Growing Up Greene Executive Director Aaron Houser and Coalbie, Growing Up Greene's beloved therapy dog, walked 67 miles from the Ohio River near Fish Creek to the historic Ice Plant in Greensboro. Along the way, they drew attention to the needs of our countyโ€™s child welfare system and raised money for Growing Up Greeneโ€™s new facility in Waynesburg.

In just seven years, Growing Up Greene has grown from one program to seven, helping hundreds of local families. Now that their current space is full, theyโ€™re working to turn the historic Democrat Messenger Building into a safe, welcoming place where children and families can find resources, support and hope. Iโ€™m so grateful to everyone behind this effort to strengthen our community and give our kids the bright futures they deserve.

๐Ÿ“ธ Celebrating the end of the Warrior Walk at the Ice Plant in Greensboro are my Outreach Director, Eric Cowden, Aaron Houser and Coalbie. This sweet beagle mix brings comfort and calm to children in foster care, thanks in part to support from Core Natural Resourcesโ€™ Core Cares Foundation. Thank you to everyone who supported their journey!

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค It was an honor to join the Pennsylvania Western University community for ๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜“๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜บ: ๐˜ˆ ๐˜Š๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜บ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฃ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜‹๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ at the PennWest California campus, where I presented Senate proclamations to the four families of fallen police officers who were graduates of PennWest and made the ultimate sacrifice protecting their communities.

A dedicated memorial bench at Azorsky Field now serves as a lasting tribute to these heroes, ensuring their courage, service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We honor the lives and legacies of:

โ–ธ Officer Ryan Eugene Cappelletty ('02) โ€“ Chesterfield County Police Department, VA

โ–ธ Officer Dale Thomas Provins Jr. ('03) โ€“ Jefferson Hills Police Department, PA

โ–ธ Officer Sean Leonard Sluganski ('22) โ€“ McKeesport Police Department, PA

โ–ธ Officer Andrew William Duarte ('16) โ€“ West York Borough Police Department, PA

The ceremony also included the presentation of memorial plaques for PennWestโ€™s three campuses, a posthumous degree awarded to Officer Sluganski, a moving message of faith and remembrance and special musical tributes. Each moment reflected the profound impact these officers had on their communities and the enduring legacy they leave behind.

I am grateful to President Jim Fisher; Tony Mauro, Associate VP for University Development; and Julie Warnick, Director of the John R. Cencich Center for Investigative and Forensic Sciences, for their invitation to take part in this meaningful ceremony and, most importantly, to address the families of these fallen heroes directly as we honor their loved onesโ€™ service and sacrifice.

May this memorial stand as a reminder that these four officers will always be remembered. May God bless these heroes and comfort all who carry their memory in their hearts.

Today, we commemorate the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas in 1492.

Columbus was originally bound for Asia on the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria when he landed in the Bahamas or also referred to as, the "New World." Interesting fact, Columbus Day became a federal holiday in 1937.

๐Ÿ™ So thankful to join my dear friend Diana Irey Vaughan, President and CEO of Washington City Mission, for ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง๐™จ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ ๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™– ๐˜ฝ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™, a national, 24-hour livestream shining a light on homelessness and the work being done to offer hope and help to people in need.

The livestream is still going until 12:00 p.m. tomorrow, and you can catch it right now on their YouTube live streams page: https://www.youtube.com//streams

We talked about how faith, compassion, and community come together to change lives. City Mission provides shelter, food, and care for veterans, women, and children, and helps people overcome addiction, rebuild their lives, and move forward. Every single day, they put the love of Christ into action.

Iโ€™ve always believed faith means more when we put it into practice. Scripture calls us to love our neighbors, share our blessings, and care for those who are struggling. You donโ€™t have to give money to make a difference. Volunteering your time, sharing a meal, mentoring a child, or simply listening can bring hope to someone who needs it. โค๏ธ

Iโ€™m grateful to Diana and the whole Washington City Mission team for being a beacon of hope in our community. Together, we can remind our neighbors that they are loved, valued, and never forgotten. Sometimes the best way to share Godโ€™s love is simply to show up.
