Courthouse Elevator Update:
In July, elevator construction was started on the north side of the Poinsett County Courthouse. Since then they have been doing drainage and foundation work. This month the concrete work of the basement was completed. The next step of the addition started this week: exterior wall frame work. We are excited to see this project progress. Many thanks to Arkansas Historic Preservation Program for making this addition possible.

Public Testing of Voting Equipment

A public meeting to demonstrate and test the voting equipment and media for the upcoming November 3, 2026 General Election and Nonpartisan Judicial Runoff Election will be held Monday, October 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the conference area of the Poinsett County Annex 1 Building located at 110 N. East Street, Harrisburg (across from the Courthouse).

This meeting is open to the public, and the Election Commission invites everyone to attend.

The Poinsett County Courthouse Annex 2 is now better equipped to handle sudden emergencies following the acquisition of a new AED. The life-saving device was secured through a grant written and coordinated by the Arkansas Department of Health. Local officials expressed gratitude to the Arkansas Department of Health for prioritizing community and thanked the Community Health Education Foundation for the funding. The new AED will be centrally located within the Courthouse Annex 2, and training sessions will be made available to staff to ensure preparedness in the event of a medical emergency.
