💜 September is National Recovery Month: A Story of Hope
This National Recovery Month, we’re sharing the story of “Lynn” - a woman who spent decades struggling with drug and alcohol addiction and faced moments when she felt like she had lost her way.
After years of instability, Lynn made the difficult decision to choose recovery. With the support of her counselor, she came to Evergreen House, determined to do whatever it took to rebuild her life.
At Evergreen House, Lynn learned that recovery was about more than staying sober. She learned how to be accountable, become part of a team, accept guidance, and work through the challenges of her past. She began rebuilding relationships, developing healthy routines, and learning to trust again.
For the first time in years, Lynn found stability. She got a job, began taking responsibility for herself, and rebuilt her financial life. She was able to open a checking and savings account, pay her rent and bills on time, and even begin helping others who were facing some of the same struggles she had overcome.
Lynn also found something she hadn't had in a long time - a strong recovery community and people who cared about her.
Today, she is living with her son and reflects on how far she has come. She gives thanks to God for His love and mercy and expresses deep gratitude to Evergreen House for giving her the tools and support she needed to succeed.
💜 Recovery is possible. Change is possible. A new life is possible.
During National Recovery Month, we celebrate people like Lynn who have found the courage to choose recovery - and the people who walk beside them along the way.
At Catholic Charities, we believe every person deserves the opportunity to heal, rebuild, and discover what is possible when hope is given a chance.
