White Water Shaker Village The Friends of White Water Shaker Village are currently working to restore this former Shaker community (1823-1916).

The Shaker buildings and grounds are being restored by the Friends of White Water Shaker Village, so that they may be opened to the public. Private tours for groups may be arranged by contacting [email protected]. The White Water Shaker Village is the only intact Shaker Village remaining of the five that were once in Ohio. Responding to public interest in the White Water Shaker community, the Friends of White Water Shaker Village was organized in 2002. In 2007, the Friends leased the North Family buildings and surrounding acreage from Great Parks (formerly the Hamilton County Park District) to preserve and restore these historically and architecturally significant structures. The Friends of the White Water Shaker Village is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. If you are interested in joining the FWWSV or supporting our mission, please visit our website, http://www.whitewatershakervillage.org .

We have less than 2 weeks left in our fundraising campaign. All funds will go toward our restoration projects at the Village.

With a gift of time (no buying or selling anything), you can make a difference by completing simple surveys (90 seconds each) on your phone, tablet, or computer, mostly using emojis. Each completed survey earns $1.60 for White Water Shaker Village. If you complete 10 surveys, FWWSV gets $16. It all adds up!

The Friends of White Water Shaker Village was pleased to host a refreshment/rest stop and history break for the participants in the American Discovery 250 Relay this morning. This group started in Oxford, Ohio this morning and will end their 63 mile leg of the relay in Kentucky this afternoon. A copy of the Declaration of Independence is being carried in batons and passed on to others participating in the Relay as it crosses the country. The coast to coast relay aims to celebrate the outdoors and 250 years of American history across America. The American Discovery 250 Relay started on July 4 on the Golden Gate Bridge and ends in Delaware on Thanksgiving Day. The trail covers 6,800 miles through 15 states. Wishing all the participants well as they complete their legs on the trail!

We are partnering with HundredX until November 3 to bring you a way to support the restoration at White Water Shaker Village without spending a cent!

Here’s how it works:
Each time you submit a survey of brands you know and use on the HundredX platform, $1.60 will go toward the restoration projects at White Water. It only takes 60-90 seconds to complete a survey and you get to choose the brands. You can create up to $120 to support our mission! Your spouse, family members, neighbors and friends (US residents 18 years and older) can help earn money too.

Completing just 5-10 surveys a day (less than 15 minutes) for 5 days can make a significant impact. Last year, we raised just over $3,000. Our goal this year is $5,000.

We have the opportunity to create thousands of dollars together without opening our wallets. WE INVITE YOU to join this unique opportunity to raise funds. THANK YOU for supporting White Water Shaker Village’s restoration.

Our beautiful garden! We are thankful to the Master Gardeners who created this lovely plan. Plus our wonderful volunteers who cleaned up the old and added these plants. Next project is creating educational signs telling how each plant was used.

Preservation isn't only about keeping what came before. It's about making sure future generations can experience it, understand it, and connect with it. White Water Shaker Village

America 250 – Ohio’s October theme is Ohio Food & Farms: October is the month of Harvest.

By the time White Water Shaker Village was founded, they benefited from years of prior Shaker farming knowledge that was shared with them. Three of the founders of White Water, Joseph Agnew, Brant Agnew and Joseph Boggett, were already successful farmers in the area, so they could also rely on their previous experiences and knowledge of the local climate.

White Water grew a wide variety of crops, including wheat, barley, oats, corn, rye, alfalfa, sorghum, broomcorn, potatoes and onions. They had many fruit orchards, including apples, pears, peaches, plums, and cherries. They grew grapes, pumpkins, strawberries, and gooseberries and produced maple syrup and honey.

The White Water Shakers were successful in producing enough food for their community and livestock at White Water and sold the surplus crops and goods to the “world’s people” in order to have funds to purchase needed goods they were unable to make for themselves.
