The CALL in Boone & Newton Counties Vision: No waiting children in foster care in Arkansas. The CALL in Boone County started as a God given desire in the hearts of several people.

The common thread in these individuals was their understanding of God’s heart toward orphans (James 1:27) and the knowledge of the desperate needs of these children. They bonded together determined to do something. Once connected with The CALL in Arkansas, they were on their way to making a difference. The CALL in Boone County was launched on January 12th, 2014 after more than a year of planning, fundraising, and building a team of like-minded Christians. In Boone County, the need is so great that over 50% of the children brought into foster care have to be taken out of our county to find an open foster home. Sometimes, there is no room in any of the surrounding area foster homes and the children are placed in an emergency shelter, group home, or other facility. This means changing schools, long driving time for weekly visits, and leaving friends, churches, and the community they know. The feeling of being uprooted is added to their feelings of fear and confusion. These children need a safe and loving home in our community that is familiar to them. God is giving families in our area an exciting opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus for these children. Some children will only need us temporarily until their family is restored and others will need a forever family through adoption. If just one family from each church in Boone County would open their home, we would have an abundance of homes for our children. Sign up for our next Informational meeting to see how you can help! Some will foster, some will adopt, but we all can help support these children in various ways! Come see what you can do to help the hurting children through this traumatic time in their lives. Will you answer The CALL? Until no child is waiting,
Jamie Phillips
Boone County Coordinator

What could happen if a few people from your church committed to serving one family during their season of foster care?

Care Teams bring together four people to provide simple, consistent support through meals, prayer, and regular connection. It’s a practical way for local churches to help foster families feel surrounded and supported as they care for kids in their homes.

Maybe your way to Serve for a Season is bringing a few people together and making sure one family doesn’t serve alone. Learn more about launching a Care Team at your church: thecallinarkansas.org/contact

What if your season of celebration became an opportunity to give?

For her 10th birthday, one young girl celebrated by asking friends and family to donate stuffed animals for children in foster care.

Her idea was simple, but that’s exactly what Serve for a Season is about. You don’t have to wait until you have more time, more resources, or the perfect opportunity. Start with what you have, right where you are.

Local churches are uniquely positioned to turn compassion into action. When a church says yes, it can empower families to open their homes, people to use their giftings, and entire communities to surround children and families with care.

Through Serve for a Season, we're looking for local churches ready to dive deeper into the mission, no matter where they are in their foster care journey!

Invite The CALL into your church to share about foster care and the needs in your community: Host a foster-care service for Stand Sunday, invite The CALL to speak to a small group, plan a foster care Q&A, or simply reach out to learn how your church can get involved.

Did you know that foster care doesn't have to be a lifelong calling? It can simply be a season. One year, one child, one sibling group, one time is enough.

This October & November, we are asking YOU to consider Serving for a Season. In any season of life, for any amount of time. Would you join us?

If your church is interested in joining our Serve for a Season campaign, reach out today! We are here to provide resources and tools for your church, small group, or family to Serve for a Season.

Sometimes, a pair of shoes means so much more.

For the first time, a sweet boy gets to be part of a basketball team. He gets to put on a jersey, step onto the court, make memories, and simply be a kid.

Because of generous donors like you, we were able to gift him a brand-new pair of basketball shoes for his first season.

It may look like just a pair of shoes, but to him, it means “I get to play, too.”

Thank you for helping us say, “YES!” to the tangible needs and the special moments of children in foster care. 🏀👟❤️

Raising compassionate, empathetic kids who love like Jesus and step toward hard things calls us into brave, honest conversations. We know topics like abuse, neglect, addiction, and foster care can feel heavy to bring up around the dinner table.

But here’s the hope: everyone in your family can do something to engage in foster care in our communities.

With the right tools and age-appropriate conversations, your kids can begin to understand what it means to care for vulnerable children in our community and live out what the Bible teaches about loving our neighbors.

We’ve created resources to help you start these meaningful moments at home. Find the Foster Care Family Guides under “Resources” at linktr.ee/thecallinar.
