Earlier today, members visited South Harrison Elementary School to host a fire prevention assembly.

This year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” focused on educating students about safe charging practices and preventing electrical fires.

Following the assembly, students had the opportunity to tour our apparatus, explore firefighting equipment, and interact with members. These activities help students become more familiar with firefighters, build trust, and learn important fire safety practices.

Thank you to South Harrison Elementary School for having us!

Yesterday, the Harrisonville Fire Company welcomed Tender 36-14 back following an extensive refurbishment.

After several delays throughout the project due to funding and supply chain issues, we are excited to finally have the apparatus back. The refurbishment included a new pump and water tank, upgraded LED emergency lighting, as well as several other repairs/improvements.

Tender 36-14 plays a pivotal role in our operations. With no fire hydrants in South Harrison Township, the apparatus is essential in providing and maintaining a reliable water supply during incidents throughout our community.

Members spent yesterday re-equipping the apparatus and re-familiarizing themselves with its operation before officially placing Tender 36-14 back in service.

Yesterday, the Harrisonville Fire Company responded to several calls during a period of extreme weather in our area, with crews operating through heavy rainfall and a tornado warning. Several roadways throughout the township were left flooded.

Let this serve as a reminder: if you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an alternate route. Never attempt to drive through floodwaters. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
