Amendment 5 is going to be a hard NO for me today. There’s not enough protection set up for the people. It seems good to get rid of an income tax. There’s no safeguards put in to stop them from then charging owners of companies taxes on their purchases that would normally be exempt which then will in turn cause them to raise their prices. When you get a medical bill, they can potentially tax your bill. If you pay a commission to anyone for anything they could potentially tax that commission and I’m not talking about the person making the commission I’m talking about for you to pay taxes on the commission. Sure the idea of not paying a state income tax seems good, but look at what you’re actually paying and then imagine having to pay taxes on services and imagine how business owners that weren’t paying taxes on materials that they bought to resell or use in what they were selling… That will then go to the consumer. Trust me this isn’t a good thing.
