Big Thanks to Interstate Towing and Recovery for donating a few cars for extraction practice tonight. Also Thanks to TNT Rescue Tools for the great battery operated tools, sure beats the gas powered units and all the hydraulic hoses. We hope to never have to use these tools, but if we do, we are prepared.

*****PRESS RELEASE*****

Date/Time: Sunday, October 11, 2026
Location: 133 Oak Street
Incident: 26-004483

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, at approximately 11:01 am, the West Bend Fire Department was dispatched to 133 Oak Street for the report of smoke near the building. Due to the type of structure, Battalion 1, Tower 1 and Engine 2 were dispatched and responded.

Battalion 1 was the first fire unit to arrive on scene and reported light smoke in the area but was unsure if it was coming from the building. After completing an initial size up, Battalion 1 determined the smoke was coming from inside the building and a visible fire could be seen from the exterior of the building.

With this information, the incident was upgraded to the Full Still Level, on MABAS Box Card 15-1-8, which brought Engine 3, MED 1, Fire Chief 501, an Engine Company and Chief from the Kewaskum Fire Department, and a Chief and Truck Company from the Jackson Fire Department.

Due to the size and condition of the building, accessing and finding the seat of the fire proved challenging. Due to this, the incident was upgraded to the Working Still Level, which brought an additional West Bend Chief, MED 12, an Engine and Chief from the Allenton Fire Department, a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) from the St. Lawrence Fire Company. Additionally, an Engine and Chief from the Newburg Fire Department along with a MED Unit from the Germantown Fire Department responded as a Change of Quarters to staff Station 1.

The fire appeared to originate in a room inside the large building where multiple items were found to be on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished but the building remained charged with smoke. The crews on scene worked to remove the smoke from the building and completed a primary and secondary search of the building for occupants which was negative.

During this incident, the Germantown MED Unit responded to an MED request in the city and the Newburg Fire Department responded to an activated Fire Alarm with other West Bend Units.

The West Bend Fire Department extends its sincere gratitude to our mutual aid partners, as well as the West Bend Police Department and Public Safety Dispatchers, for their prompt response and dedicated efforts during this incident.
