Scam Alert 🚨 Fake Dealership Letters

A DCP employee received this letter with the correct name, address, car, and date of purchase, just two weeks after buying a new car.

They called the phone number listed and the caller was pushy, couldn't answer specific questions, and sounded unprofessional. Our employee sensed something was off and hung up.

Not sure if a letter in the mail is real? Look on the organization's website for a phone number. If the phone number on the letter and website do not match, it might be a scam. Call the official number to verify 📞

You don't want to spend the Halloween party breaking out in a rash. Trust our social media manager. She learned that the hard way in 2012 😞

If you're wearing costume makeup this Halloween, please test it out in advance.

Put a small amount on your forearm and leave it for a day. You could put it a bandage over it to prevent from rubbing against your clothes. If you develop a rash, redness, swelling or other signs of irritation around the applied area – that’s a sign of an allergic reaction.

Before the winter hits, get your chimney cleaned. A clean and inspected chimney is your best protection against a chimney fire.

Ask for local recommendations, read reviews, and check national credentials on the Chimney Safety Institute of America or National Chimney Sweep Guild's website.

Chimney sweeps can:
- Help identify defects
- Clean debris
- Look for any damage
- Remove creosote (highly flammable)

Sweeps but they CANNOT perform repairs, install chimney caps or replace the liner.

Don't share prescriptions. If you need medication, you should contact your prescriber, not your friend.

In emergencies, we want to help out our family and friends, but sharing prescriptions can be dangerous. You don't know how it will affect them.

How can you help your family and friends? Go through your over-the-counter medications and throw out anything that's expired. That way you're prepared for the next "pesky headache"

Drop off any unwanted medications at Drug Take Back Day on October 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 💊 The Governor's Prevention Partnership

POV: You're carving a pumpkin. Which tool are you choosing?

If you chose 2: No, sharper is not always better. One slip can lead to an emergency room visit.

If you chose 3: You're correct. Stick with the carving kits.

If you chose 1: See you next Halloween.

Remember, always carve away from your body and leave the carving to the adults. Children can help with drawing the design or scooping out the seeds.

How to safely decorate for Halloween🎃

For lights, look for the UL or ETL on the label. This tells you that the lights were tested by a recognized testing lab. Throw away sets that have broken wires or sockets.

For candles, use battery-operated candles, instead of regular candles and candlesticks. If you choose to light a candle, make sure it's far away from other decorations, such as cobwebs.

To avoid any accidental trips or falls, remove any obstacles from your yard, front steps, and porches to create a safe entrance for trick-or-treaters. You may have pumpkins or wires plugged in for inflatables that can be hard to see at night.
