Through his work in community outreach, Lieutenant Richardson helps build trust, connection, and unity across Hartsville.

Black History Month is a time to honor the impact and contributions of Black leaders across generations. Here in Hartsville, we celebrate that impact not just in February, but all year long.

Black History Month is a time to honor the stories that have shaped our community, but it’s something we value all year long. From trailblazers to everyday changemakers, it’s the people beside us, supporting one another, who make Hartsville what it is.

Today, January 19, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His words of wisdom and his dream of peace and equality continue to inspire us and leave behind a powerful, lasting impact.

We want to congratulate the Hartsville Police Department for winning our Small Agency of the Year award for 2025!
Officers delivered boxes primarily as a follow up to someone in need.
Listen to one of their stories of impact from 2025.
A woman was discharged from a hospital after being denied a spot in a nursing home, officers gave her a box of Greg’s Groceries and made sure she had a hotel to stay the night at. Officers also worked to find her a place in a nearby shelter.
