🚫BANNED BOOKS WEEK🚫

This is our last book in celebration of Banned Books Week. Today we have another popular book in a series by Sarah J. Mass. The book is Empire of Storms and it's the fifth book in the Throne of Glass series. It has been banned or challenged for several different reasons. It was challenged by school boards and parents because this book has mature romantic content. It has also been cited for profanity, obscenity, and LGBTQIA+ representation. This book was in the top 11 banned books of 2025.

Our final infographic breaks down the percentage of total titles targeted by organized campaigns. There was a total of 7, 884 total titles challenged/banned in 2025. 🔥

🔒BANNED BOOKS WEEK🔒

The next book we have that has been banned or challenged due to its content is a book in the Bad Kitty series by Nick Bruel. A Bad Kitty Christmas has been banned or challenged because it briefly features a minor background appearance of a le***an couple. It is a single line in the book that mentions a character’s partner, Pam. It was banned and challenged in certain states such as Florida and Texas. There are other books in the series that have been challenged as well, Bad Kitty for President has been challenged for various reasons, including using symbols to stand-in for a cuss word.

We have another infographic today that shows censorship in public libraries last year versus the annual average from 2001 to 2020.
