☔️🌧️👟 Fun Run Rain Date: October 2nd!

🌧️👟 IMPORTANT UPDATE: Fun Run Rescheduled to Friday, October 2nd! 👟🌧️
Due to steady rain through midweek, we want to ensure our Hornets have a safe, dry course rather than a slippery, muddy mess that could lead to falls and ruined shoes! To give the grounds ample time to dry, our 8th Annual Fun Run is officially moved to Friday, October 2nd.
Here are all the key details you need to know:
🕒 Grade Run Times:
All running times for each grade remain completely unchanged for the new date!
🪪 Spectator Pre-Registration:
All pre-registrations already submitted will be honored.
If you haven’t filled out the spectator form sent by Principal Meyers yet, the deadline is still this Thursday, Sept 24th at 12:00 PM (noon).
Reminder: Non-parents/guardians must check in at the main office first before heading back to the field. Please give yourself plenty of time for this.
🚗 Parking & Reminders:
Park in the church lot only (no street parking; please use caution crossing as there is no crossing guard).
Bring your homemade cheer signs, loud voices, and running shoes if you plan to run alongside your student! 🪧📣👟
Students should wear sneakers and have sunscreen and bug spray applied at home. And don’t forget water bottles! 🧴
💰 Fundraising Window Extended!
We have officially raised $13,736 toward our $18,400 goal! Because of the date change, our donation window is now extended to Sunday, October 4th at 12:00 PM (noon).
Every dollar helps us cover school operating costs, classroom grants, $20 per student for field trips, and up to $10 per student for a book at the Fall Book Fair! 📚🚌

After school fishing 🎣 was a blast! Some of our 3rd-5th grade Hornets 🐝 stayed for fishing the last two weeks with Mrs. Dye and Mr. Lausten and had a blast with the National Fishing in Schools Program!! Check out these anglers 🎣 and their catches 🐟🐠🐡

⏰👟 PARENTS & FAMILIES: Your Fun Run Spectator Guide is Here!

We want YOU in the stands cheering on our runners on Friday, September 25th! Here is everything you need to know to come cheer on your Hornet:

🏃‍♂️ RUN SCHEDULE BY GRADE:
📍 8:55-9:40- 5th Grade
📍9:45-10:30- 1st Grade
📍 10:35-11:20- 2nd Grade
📍 11:25-12:10- 3rd Grade
📍 12:40-1:25- kindergarten
📍 1:30-2:15- 4th Grade
(Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in!)

🚗 PARKING & SPECTATOR INFO:
✅ Park in the church parking lot.
✅ Head around back to sign on at the spectator sheets near the Nurse’s Station.
✅ Head to the spectator cheering zone along the track!
📣 Poster boards, noise makers, and high-fives are highly encouraged!

We are also looking for a few volunteers for the day. We need a few people to come before the race to help set up (this would work well for 5th grade parents coming to cheer on their Hornet). We also need a few people to stay all day to help hand out popsicles and help where needed; plus if you stay all day you get fed! We are out and active 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ on the Nature Trail already this year! As the Fun Run is officially less than a month away (Friday September 25) we wanted to get out and exercising on the trail as soon as we could. Our Hornets 🐝 have started earning tokens for their miles they’ve completed too!

Our fantastic Hartwood Elementary School PTA has our Fun Run website up and running too! Please consider donating to our Fun Run as the funds donated support:

📖 purchasing a book from the Book Fair (up to $10) for each Hornet 🐝

Welcome back Hornets 🐝! We tetris-ed 🧩 our way through the first 🖐️ days of PE with our older Hornets 🐝! We loved listening 👂 as they worked together to match the puzzle pieces to the picture cards 🃏 on the opposite side of the gym. We can’t wait for a great year 🗓️together at Hartwood Elementary!!
