For the first time in our history, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded Thornton Township its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 2026.

The award recognizes a budget document that meets GFOA's standards as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. In other words, a budget written to be understood by the residents it serves.

Thank you to our Finance team, our elected officials and staff across every department for setting a new standard of transparency and accountability.
