Wanaque Boro Democratic Club Founded in 1933, we are an organization for all Democrats who live in Haskell and Wanaque Borough.

Mission Statement

We envision a Wanaque Democratic Club that seeks and embraces broad community input to formulate its platform,

a Democratic Club that establishes a strong and inspirational voice to improve and maintain the quality of life and sense of community of all of our neighbors, and

a Democratic Club that strives to align our values and beliefs with the actions of each of our members. We will encourage, select, and elect qualified candidates for public office that represent and uphold the core values of the club and the Democratic Party. Our club will form the political conscience of those who participate in government and attract a vast number of
women and men to serve the Democratic Party ideals and process. Our Principal Objectives Are:
• Always make the People of Wanaque more important than the
Politics of Wanaque

• Maintain open and positive communication between the elected
officials of Wanaque and the citizens of our community

• Ensure that all elected and appointed officials maintain the highest
standards of ethics and carry out their duties with compassion and
fiscal responsibility

• Monitor the tax burden on our fellow citizens

• Balance growth and the cost of Borough services

• Attract successful commercial business growth while protecting our
environment and natural resources for the enjoyment of all
residents

• Support the creation and expansion of recreational activities for all
members of our community

• Ensure the highest quality of education for our children

• Offer a forum for vigorous discussion of local issues and support
the concerns of all residents with issues affecting their
neighborhoods

• Promote democratic party activities to all interested citizens, and
encourage more democrats to become active in local political
affairs

• Support local, county, state and national efforts of the democratic
party by campaigning, fundraising and educating the voters of
Wanaque

• Recruit, nominate, elect and support good local leaders to govern
and guide us - today and tomorrow

Wanaque Day Town Picnic has been rescheduled -

Due to the predicted forecast for this coming Saturday, the Wanaque Day Picnic is being postponed until Saturday October 10th. (Rain date: Oct 11th)
There are quite a few factors which went into this decision, not just the rain on Saturday and Sunday, but the wind as well. Our tent company does not feel comfortable putting the tents up Friday night and having them up for the weekend with all the projected wind and the possibility of them being blown over. We also must consider the wind with our blow-ups, virtual golf and fireworks as well. With the fireworks we have to worry about the lit embers heading into the woods and starting a fire.

This was not an easy decision to make considering how many people are affected by it, but it is a decision which had to be made for the safety of all involved, especially our residents.

Best Regards
Paul Johannemann
Borough of Wanaque Recreation Director

The Fight For Wanaque Team needs you! We are less than 2 months away from election day, so please follow the campaign's social media, and answer the door when the candidates come knocking - they want to hear your thoughts on what *you* want as a resident, regardless of your political party affiliation. Sandy Lawson, Darlyn Warner, and Rich McFarlane put people ahead of politics. Links in the comments 👇🏼
