Hunters will sit out on a 12" chair, 30' in a tree, dressed in camo at 4am, in the freezing air, waiting for a deer to cross their path. You are sitting in a warm car on a padded chair, with music blaring and a hot coffee in the cup holder, and they just cross in front like it's nobody's business!

Adams County is currently testing all of our radio equipment. We do this annually to make sure our responders have a reliable and fully functioning radio system.

Radios are the most important tool in their toolbox for safety.

We also have a fully redundant backup in the event something happens to our primary system.

Requirements: Must be a US citizen, must be 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma or G.E.D, and have a valid driver’s license.

This is why testing and preparing is so important.
There is a mechanical fault issue between the Hastings Dispatch console and the sirens.
Hastings did activate the sirens at noon. When they did not go off we activated them at 12:04pm from the Emergency Operations Center, another important lesson as to why we have redundancy built into our plans.
We will work to identify the source of the problem at Hastings and for the time being we will activate the sirens from the EOC.
