A message from K9 Handler, Deputy Travis Moore

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the passing of my partner and friend, K9 Grizzly.

Grizzly was so much more than a K9 to me. He was my partner, my teammate, a hard worker, and a loyal companion. I had the privilege of working alongside him and watching him give his all every day in service to the Barry County Sheriff’s Department. His dedication to his job and his commitment to serving our community were truly remarkable.

Grizzly had a nose like no other and was a fantastic tracker. His natural ability, determination, and incredible work ethic made him an exceptional K9. He was always ready to work, and I could count on him to give everything he had, no matter what the task was.

Over the years, we spent countless hours training, working, and relying on one another. We shared experiences and challenges that created a bond that is difficult to put into words. He wasn't just my working partner—he was my friend and a very important part of my life.

I am incredibly proud of the dedication and service Grizzly gave to the Barry County Sheriff’s Department and to the community. His loyalty, hard work, and accomplishments will always be a part of his legacy.

While my heart is broken to say goodbye, I am grateful for every moment I was given with him. Grizzly will be dearly missed by me, his family, his fellow members of the Barry County Sheriff’s Department, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest easy, Grizzly. You were an incredible partner, a tireless worker, a fantastic tracker, and, most importantly, my friend. You gave me everything you had, and I will forever be grateful for you.

Your watch is over. You can rest now, buddy. You will never be forgotten.
