Our Athens Branch had a ton of fall fun last night! Teens and tweens painted and sipped fruity drinks at the library's latest DIY & Chill event. Their talent really shows. 🙌

Blast off on an adventure at the library's Spencer Branch this October! 🚀👨‍🚀

Designed to inspire a love of science, our Escape to Space series of events invites children and teens to get curious and creative about space right in their own local library. Each event is free, no registration or additional materials required.

Schedule of spectacular space events:

🗓 October 5, 5:30–6:30 p.m.: Lunar Calendars
🪐 Teens and tweens are invited to create a DIY Lunar calendar to track the moon phases!

🗓 October 8, 10:00–11:00 a.m.: Birthday Constellations
🪐 Children ages 0-11 are invited to the library to discover their birthday month constellation and even recreate it using craft materials.

🗓 October 14, 5:30–6:30 p.m.: Star Chart Experiment
🪐 Teens should head to the library to create a star chart using colorful electronic bits that snap together using small magnets.

🗓 October 15, 1:00–2:00 p.m.: Pocket Solar System
🪐 Help children understand the fascinating distance of the plants to the Sun in this fun draw-to-scale project.

🗓 October 19-24, anytime during open hours: DIY Command Module & Parachute
🪐 Children are invited to drop in to craft an awesome DIY command module and parachute using step-by-step instructions and library-provided materials.

🗓 October 27, 10:00–11:00 a.m.: Orbiting Satellites
🪐 Children can craft a unique satellite and globe project that really moves!

🗓 October 30, 10:00–11:00 a.m.: Eclipse Chalk Art
🪐 All ages are invited to learn to draw a perfect eclipse with ease using bright white chalk and deep black card stock.
