An important message from the office of the Suffolk County District Attorney. We urge you to have a fun and safe Halloween weekend.

As October ends, we remain dedicated to protecting children. Our office recognizes that bullying has real and lasting impacts on kids and families, from school avoidance to increased anxiety and depression. Bullying can take many forms — verbal, physical, social exclusion, or online through texts, email, and social media.

Bullying is taken seriously under New York State law, and schools are required to act to keep students safe.

As we leave , we encourage families to continue teaching kindness, respect, and positive behavior. These conversations matter all year long.

Prevention starts at home!

A large-scale co***ne trafficking operation has been dismantled following the indictment of two suppliers and a distributor operating out of an Amityville stash house. A total of 11 sales to an undercover officer took place between March and October 2026. The three defendants were arrested following search warrants at two locations earlier this month.

“These alleged drug dealers were flooding our communities with co***ne, putting countless lives at risk for their own profit,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Eleven separate sales to an undercover are not isolated transactions. As alleged, this was a deliberate, sustained operation fueled by suppliers and a seller who kept coming back for more. Drug traffickers who put our community at risk by selling poison should know that we will investigate, we will prosecute and we will shut you down.”

Today, a prior violent felony offender with a criminal record dating back to 2009, was finally sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Suffolk County deserves better than felons with over a dozen criminal convictions out on the streets.

We are committed to holding these perpetrators to full account, and we will not stop talking about it.

A Bellport tax preparer pleaded guilty to stealing from his client’s Patchogue-based auto shop business. He used the money to make mortgage payments, credit card payments, buy airplane tickets, food purchases, and OnlyFans subscriptions.

"The deliberate theft of over $260,000 from a small business represents a serious violation of professional duty and criminal law," said District Attorney Tierney. "This guilty plea ensures the defendant is held accountable for this egregious abuse of trust. In addition to jail, he will be required to pay back what he stole. The lesson here is that in Suffolk County, crime does not pay."

Our office was proud to participate in the Town of Islip Unity Ambassador Program, an initiative that empowers high school students to lead with integrity, empathy, and authenticity. Through the involvement of our H.E.A.T. Unit, students learned to recognize and address bullying, discrimination, and hate while promoting respect, inclusion, and unity. We thank our Assistant District Attorneys for their willingness to participate and support this important initiative.
