The Firework Show at Riverfront Park in Havana is TONIGHT!! Approximate start time is 9:00pm! All spectators in the park must remain behind the fire line that is in place! Personal fireworks in the park are PROHIBITED!

To all recreational boat traffic on the Illinois River at Havana:

If you wish to watch the firework show at Riverfront Park while on the river, you must anchor on the west side of the channel. From the main boat ramp (Jefferson St. ramp), to north of the Havana Nature Center, no vessels will be allowed to anchor on the east side (Havana side) during the firework show within the fire line.

Recreational traffic will be temporarily halted in the channel during the show in this area for your safety. All boat ramps are open. However, both Jefferson St ramps will be temporarily closed during the firework show and will open immediately after the show.

Due to high water levels, the river is moving at a fast pace. Please be sure to have all your required safety equipment and lighting while out after dark. The Havana Riverfront is a No-Wake zone.

Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the show!

Keep the Wreath Red!!

The Havana Fire Department is once again doing our “Keep the Wreath Red” campaign this holiday season. The wreath is intended to remind residnts of safe practices throughout the holidays. For each residential or commercial fire the department responds to through the end of the year, a red bulb will be replaced with a white bulb. The following are some safe practices to follow this holiday season.

- Don’t leave your cooking unattended
- Keep your furnace filters clean
- Space heaters must be plugged directly into the wall and not another extension cord
- Extinguish scented candles before leaving home
- Freshly cut Christmas trees need watered daily
- Charge devices on a hard surface

Remember to “Keep the Wreath Red” this holiday season!!
