As we roll into Memorial Day weekend we want to remember the reason for today and all that gave their lives protecting our nation and the freedoms we are able to enjoy.
We also would like to take a moment and remind folks that though many will be out having fun this weekend (like we did in preparation for this PSA) we would like to remind everyone of a few key safety notes.
•be sure to wear a life jacket while your on the water.
•be sure to be drinking plenty of water and electrolytes, especially if adult beverages are being drank as well!
• please do not operate vehicles or boats if you are partaking in adult beverages! This is a recipe for disaster.
• keep an eye on eachother and kids, make sure to monitor them around the water and the heat.
•be aware of where safety equipment is. Where is your first aid kid? Your life preservers? Your phone and ways to contact help?
• last but not least be sure to wear and reapply your sunscreen. Those sun burns can be brutal!
Have a safe Memorial Day! Let’s not meet in the official capacity. 😄

Congratulations on the much deserved promotion! We look forward to working side by side for many years to come!
For those that don’t know, the DC-1 position is Reno county EMS division chief. They help keep everything running smooth and also assist on calls. When we have a critical patient in our community, you very well might see one of the 3 DCs responding with the ambulance. That is an over simplified explanation but they are a very critical part of our county wide emergency response system
🚨PROMITONAL ANNOUNCEMENT🚨
Reno County EMS is proud to announce the promotion of Nikki Shain to EMS Operations Division Chief (DC-1).
With 26 years of experience, Nikki has been leading from the front long before the title made it official. From high-pressure calls to day-to-day operations, she’s a first call for help, the calm in the chaos, the voice of reason, and the one making sure the job gets done right. (On top of being a mom and a business owner? 👑 Yeah, you know the energy she brings 👑)
Now, she’ll be stepping into a key leadership role supporting our crews, keeping operations running strong, and continuing to raise the bar for the care we provide.
Same Nikki, different title 😎
Congratulations, Chief Shain!
