Join Haverhill SEPAC for a Virtual Workshop! - Massachusetts Anti-Bullying Law: IEP and Schoolwide Strategies to Prevent Bullying of Students with Disabilities w/ Johanne Pino

This informative workshop will explore best practices based on Massachusetts’ anti-bullying prevention law, with a special focus on protecting and supporting students with disabilities.
Participants will learn about schoolwide efforts to create safe and supportive learning environments, as well as requirements for IEP Teams to address bullying concerns involving students with disabilities.
Whether you’re looking to better understand your child’s rights, prepare for an IEP meeting, or learn how schools can help prevent and respond to bullying, we hope you’ll join us.

💙 FIND YOUR PEOPLE & START WITH HELLO! 💙

As part of National Anti-Bullying Month, HPS students are exploring what it means to build a strong support system and create an inclusive community where everyone feels safe. 🏫✨

Knowing who your trusted people are gives you confidence, while reaching out to others helps build a school where no one feels left out!

💡 How to Identify "Your People":
• Look for consistency: Who listens to you without judging?
• Look for safety: Which adults (teachers, counselors, coaches, family) or friends make you feel safe and respected when you talk to them?
• Keep a mental list: Identify 2–3 people you know you can go to when things get tough.

💬 3 Easy Ways to Say "Hello" to a Peer Today:
1️⃣ Give a quick wave or smile in the hallway between classes.
2️⃣ Say "Good morning!" or "Hey, love your shoes/hoodie!" as you sit down.
3️⃣ Ask a simple question: "How was your weekend?" or "Are you ready for the test?"

Identifying trusted adults and supportive friends is one of the most powerful ways to navigate tough situations. Your "people" might be your homeroom teacher, a school nurse, a trusted counselor, or a friend who always has your back.

💙 IDENTIFY YOUR PEOPLE & SPREAD KINDNESS! 💙

As part of National Anti-Bullying Month, HPS students are learning how to identify their "people"—the safe, supportive adults and friends they can turn to whenever they need help or guidance. 🏫✨

Knowing who your trusted circle is gives you confidence, but being a supportive peer to others is just as powerful! A simple "hello," a wave in the hallway, or inviting someone to sit together can make a world of difference to a classmate who might be having a tough day. 🤝

💬 This October, challenge yourself:
