Shortly before 1230, Level VFC & Harford County Department of Emergency Services Medic 1 were dispatched for an injured subject in the Susquehanna State Park along the Susquehanna Ridge Trail. Utility 1-1 towing UTV 1 with 3 followed by Rescue 1 with 5 additional members made the response.

Units arrived at 1233hrs and made contacted with a subject in parking lot of the picnic area who was able to direct crews to the patient. Command was established in the parking lot by Captain 1. Division Chief 15 was requested to the scene with Drone capabilities. Using CalTopo and GPS coordinates from the patient, a general area was established. UTV 1 with 2 members entered the trail head at 1239hrs. After driving approx 3/10 of a mile along the trail, the crew of the UTV had to hike on foot another approx 2/10 of a mile to the patient. Patient contact was made at 1252hrs. Due to the terrain and location of the patient, command requested the Special Operations Team with their Wheel Stokes Basket.

Throughout the incident 2 additional crew of 5 rescuers were deployed back the trail to assist with extrication. At 1327hrs extrication began. The patient was carried in a stokes basket back to the UTV and removed from the trail to the awaiting Medic unit. At 1402hrs, the patient was officially removed from the woods and turned over to the awaiting EMS crew for transport. Level & Special Ops members began to break down operations and return to service.
