Calliope Village Calliope Village is a re-creation of Sioux County's first county seat which was raided in 1872. View the safe and buildings, some original to the 1800s.

Calliope Village is open the first Sunday of June/July/August from 1:00 - 4:00 pm and Labor Day Weekend.

The Historical Society will be holding their meeting on Tuesday, October 27, at 5:30 in the Council Chamber at the Hawarden City Hall.

Apparently, one of the men liked the music played by a calliope, so they chose that as the name. Like creative parents, they changed the pronunciation, making the final ‘e’
