Last week, Chief Joseph Carr was sworn in as Chief of Police of the Hawthorne Police Department. Chief Joseph Carr has served the Borough of Hawthorne since 1993.

With over three decades of dedicated service to our community, Chief Carr brings deep experience, institutional knowledge, and steady leadership to his new command. Looking forward, Chief Carr is focused on modernizing the department—upgrading our technology, advancing officer training, and ensuring our personnel have the tools they need to protect and serve.

The Hawthorne Police Department would like to identify a suspect involved in two separate package theft incidents.

The first incident occurred on Ridgewood Avenue on 9/22/26. The second incident occurred on Warburton Avenue on 10/5/26. Both incidents occurred in the afternoon.

He drives a 2015 Lexus RX 350, blue or gray in color.
