The Ellis County Landfill is announcing that the Construction & Demolition pit, tree pile, clean rubble pile and dirt pile will remain closed on Thursday, October 1, 2026, due to muddy conditions. These materials will not be accepted in the transfer station for dumping.

Municipal waste will remain open and there is no dumping after 4:45pm.

We will reevaluate the conditions on the morning of Friday, October 2nd.

At the current time, the Ellis County Landfill cannot accept credit/debit cards for payment. Cash and check payments will be the only forms accepted at the time at dumping. If you have any questions, please call the landfill, (785) 628-9460. Thank you!

Just reminding everyone that the change in hours that the landfill is open begins this week through October 31st. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturdays only from 8am to 3pm. Effective yearly from November 1st through the last Saturday in February, Saturday hours of operation will be from 8am to 12pm. All other hours will remain unchanged. There is no dumping allowed 15 minutes prior to close.

Just a reminder!

The Ellis County Landfill is announcing the change to the Saturday hours of operation at the Ellis County Landfill.

Effective October 1, 2026, the Saturday hours of operation will change to 8am to 3pm. This will be for Saturdays only during the months of March through October each calendar year. We are also announcing winter hours of operation during the months of November through February each calendar year only with the landfill open from 8am to 12pm. No dumping 15 minutes prior to closing. This will begin on Saturday, November 7, 2026, lasting through February 27, 2027, Saturdays only. All other regular business hours, Monday through Friday will remain the same with the landfill open from 8am to 5pm with no dumping 15 minutes prior to closing.

The Ellis County Landfill will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, for the Labor Day holiday.

Normal business hours for this week will be Tuesday, September 8th through Friday, September 11th from 8AM - 5PM and Saturday, September 12th from 9AM-4PM with no dumping 15 minutes prior to closing. If you have any questions, contact the landfill at (785) 628-9460.

The Ellis County Landfill is announcing that the Construction and Demolition pile as well as the dirt pile will remain closed today, June 26th, due to the muddy conditions. These materials will not be accepted in the transfer station for dumping. Municipal waste, clean rubble, tires and the tree pile will be open for dumping. There is no dumping allowed after 4:45.

Due to the current rainy conditions and muddy impassable roads, the landfill is announcing that the follow areas of the landfill we remain closed today: Construction and Demolition, tree pile, dirt pile, clean rubble pile and tire pile. These materials will not be accepted in the transfer station.

Municipal waste will remain open and there is no dumping allowed after 4:45PM.
