Town of Hayward Open House Facilities Planning Committee
Great questions were asked at the first Town of Hayward Facilities Open House on Tuesday evening. Steve Longtine, Town of Hayward Facilities Planning Committee chairman said, “Your questions are important to hear. We are open to all thoughts and will provide all the information you want that we have.”
Chris Mlejnek, from Northwest Builders, reviewed the current potential plan for a new Facility. He talked about the value of saving the existing town Hall structure and the cost saving that means. Initial designs and plans are now on the Town’s website.
Steve Longtine invites everyone to find out more detailed information about all the Town’s buildings. Mr. Longtine encourages Town members to attend the next open house on October 27, 2026, at 6:00 pm, where the Facilities Committee will give another overview and address all your thoughts and questions.
The impact of the 2026 Town of Hayward Revaluation and the potential assessment for a new facility was discussed in some detail. A letter addressing the impacts on taxes was included with the new property assessments. But, as human nature is, most of us focused on the specific value change, and mostly the increase to our properties. So, here is some of that letter simply as a reminder:
“Impact: You will not automatically pay more in property taxes purely due to a higher assessment. … if your property’s assessed value increases by a percentage that is similar to the Town’s overall percentage increase in assessed value, then your taxes will likely see only minor increases.”
Attend October 27 at 6:00 pm or call your Hayward Town Board Supervisor or Steve Longtine. Correct and accurate information is very important. The Town of Hayward campus is located just east of Walmart, on Highway 77 (the fire hall). Preliminary plans are posted on the Town website and at the Town Hall.
