Yesterday morning at approximately 07:45 AM The Hazard Fire Department was dispatched to Century Circle to reports of an apartment building fire. Engine 1, and Tanker 2 respond to the scene along with Unit 1, Unit 2, 3 and 4 - Department Chief and Assistant Chiefs to establish Incident Command.

First arriving Asst. Chief Smith confirmed heavy fire involvement. Engine 1 arrives on scene deploying 2 attack lines and crews split to make ground floor and above grade level interior fire attack. Tanker 2’s crew arrives on scene to establish permanent water supply and other crews perform victim search efforts and ventilation tactics.

Fortunately, no victims were located during fire department search efforts, which is the #1 priority in multiple dwelling units like apartment buildings. One female was transported by ambulance to Hazard ARH for burns and smoke inhalation while exiting the structure.

Hazard units executed interior attacks stopping an already well developed fire from spreading further. No further injuries were reported from the fire and no cause has been determined at this time. This was one of three structure fires the Hazard Fire Department responded to in a 24 hour period, along with Viper and Avawam Fire Departments.
