Our teens this month helped us decorate the library with hand painted bookends. These bookends will be sealed and used throughout the Children's Department to keep our shelves nice and tidy.

Our Teen Time program meets every month. It is a program especially designed for kids in grades 6 through 12 and offers kids their own space to meet with their friends and make new ones as they participate in fun and creative projects.

Have a teen at home that could use some time away from their screens? Come and join our Teen Time program. Dates and times can be found on our page or call the Youth Services Department at 570-454-2961 for more details.

Here are some great projects that our Homeschool Hangout families worked on in October.

Earlier in the month we learned about weaving and knitting and how important both invetions are to our daily lives. Our kids learned how to finger knit. Some even took the skill back home and are using it to make Christmas ornaments for their families.

This week our families learned why water and wax just wont seem to mix. We added some new words to our vocabulary like hydrophobic and non-polar. But it wasn't all just a chemistry lesson. To bring the lesson to life we created our own watercolor resist paintings. Kids used white wax crayons to draw designs and then covered them in watercolor. We all think they did a great job.

Do these types of programs seem like something you would like for your homeschool kids? Join us twice a month for more fun lessons and activities. You can find our events listed on our page and on our website. Feel free to call the Youth Services Department at 570-454-2961 to talk to us and learn more details.
