Prescribed burn this Wednesday — don't be alarmed by the smoke.
The Healdsburg Fire Department, with support from CAL FIRE, will conduct a prescribed (controlled) burn on Wednesday, July 1, starting at 8:30 a.m. in the foothills above the Villa Commons neighborhood, northeast of March Avenue.
The burn will treat about 20 acres to clear dead grass and brush, reduce wildfire fuel, and strengthen the buffer protecting nearby homes. Crews and engines will be on scene the entire time.
What to expect:

Smoke will be visible throughout the day and may settle in low-lying areas in the evening.
If you're sensitive to smoke, keep windows and doors closed and limit time outdoors.
This is a planned operation — please don't call 911 to report the smoke.

Weather permitting. If conditions aren't right on July 1, the burn may be moved to the next available day.
