Cleburne County Republican Committee The CCRC was founded in 1966. Our mission is to recruit and elect conservative Republican candidates at the local, state and national levels of government.

The Cleburne County Republican Committee (CCRC) was initially formed in 1966 during Winthrop Rockefeller’s campaign for governor of Arkansas. Many locals formed a group to support Rockefeller and called themselves “Democrats for Rockefeller”. This group became the core of CCRC. The Principles of the Cleburne County Republican Committee

We Believe…. That individual citizens are willing and capable of managing their own affairs without government intervention. We Believe…. That the local, state, and national governments must pursue policies designed to encourage individual initiative and induce people to be responsible for their own economic, political, and social well-being. The primary function of government is to protect the life, common liberty, and property of the governed, to prevent fraud and misinterpretation, and to invoke a common justice. That when a function is undertaken by government, it should be performed by that government closest to the people which will provide as much direct control by those affected as reason and wisdom require to assure freedom and liberty to all citizens with justice under the law. That our national stability and expansion of the free enterprise system can be best assured by application of the Constitutional principles that unite the American people. If you believe in the principles and objectives stated above, we invite you to join us on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm. We meet at ASU Heber Springs, 101 River Crest Drive
Heber Springs, AR 72543

🚨 WHY THE WORD “COMMON” IS CONCERNING IN ARKANSAS

There’s a lot of attention on the words “shall not be infringed” in Issue 2 and rightfully so. But there’s another part of Arkansas’s current Right to Keep and Bear Arms that deserves a hard look:
“For their common defense.”
Why is the word “common” concerning?

Because words matter in a Constitution, and legal definitions matter even more.
Our current Arkansas Constitution says:

“The citizens of this State shall have the right to keep and bear arms, for their common defense.”
The concern is that “common defense” can be argued as a collective or public-defense concept, rather than clearly and unmistakably identifying the right as belonging to the individual citizen.
Arkansas has a history of courts wrestling with this language. In State v. Buzzard, the Arkansas Supreme Court interpreted the constitutional right in a way that helped support restrictions on carrying concealed weapons.
That's exactly why constitutional language matters.
Issue 2 strengthens the foundation.
It specifically declares the right to keep and bear arms to be:
✅ Natural
✅ Fundamental
✅ Individual
✅ Shall not be infringed
That word INDIVIDUAL matters.
This isn't a right that belongs to the government.
It isn't a right that belongs only to a militia.
It isn't a right that exists only when the government decides your purpose qualifies.
It belongs to the individual citizen.
“Common defense” describes a purpose.
“Individual” identifies who holds the right.
Issue 2 makes that distinction crystal clear and gives Arkansas citizens a much stronger constitutional foundation for the future.
We don't get many opportunities to fix weaknesses in our Constitution.
November is one of those opportunities.
🇺🇸 Vote YES on Arkansas Issue 2.
Gun Owners of Arkansas believes we should strengthen our constitutional protections now—not wait until someone else decides they're too weak to protect us.

We had a great day Saturday at the Ozark Trail Festival in Heber Springs. Members of our committee enjoyed meeting folks and informing them about the four ballot initiatives we will be voting on Nov. 3rd and promoting our Republican candidates.
Thank you @ Congressman French Hill for coming and spending time talking to our citizens.

The people have spoken. For the second election cycle in a row, organizers fell short of the needed signatures to qualify for the November ballot, failing to even submit signatures by today’s deadline. Way to go, Arkansas!
