Friday, October 16, 2026 a few of our members had the privilege of joining the Pre-K classes at Penns Manor Elementary School for a fire prevention presentation. The focus of the day was "Firefighters are Our Friends"! They were shown what their firefighter friends may look like if we show up to help them in an emergency and while all of the special gear makes us look big and very different, under all of if is still their firefighter friends. Throughout the week, Pre-K Teacher Mrs. Horn taught them about not hiding in a fire, shout for help, stay low & go. All of these were valuable lessons that we talked about even further with them. The kids then had the opportunity to touch and try on the gear if they wanted, take pics with the firefighter cut out, see the engine and were given treat bags by their new firefighter friends. I'm sure we have a few future firefighters in this group! We hope the lessons presented to them during the week will stick with them for years to come! And we truly appreciate the donation of supplies from the Pre-K families for the station. The water, gatorade, wipes, mints, granola bars, chapstick, etc. will all most certainly be put to good use!
Special thanks to Captain Amy Muir for leading the program, Firefighter Nathan Gill for being the driver for the day and Firefighter Kacy Crowley for dressing in gear! We appreciate all 3 of these members for taking time out of their busy day to bring such a valuable experience to the Pre-K Class at Penns Manor!
