ServeMontana ServeMontana is a State Service Commission. We are committed to national service and volunteerism.

The Governor’s Office of Community Service and the Governor-appointed Montana Commission on Community Service were created in 1993 to promote and expand national service and volunteer opportunities in Montana. Also known as ServeMontana, the Governor's Office of Community Service administers federal funding to AmeriCorps State programs in Montana. The federal funding is provided by AmeriCorps, the agency, an independent federal agency. We also provides a comprehensive array of technical assistance and support to national service programs and organizations that engage community volunteers throughout Montana.

Montana is culminating America’s 250th on Montana Makes a Difference Day, Saturday, October 24th. Save the date to volunteer for at least 2 hours with family, friends, and neighbors.

Volunteering right where we live is a terrific way to wrap up America’s 250th, bringing people together, strengthening our communities, and making a difference in ourselves.

Make sure to tag Montana 250 and ServeMontana with pictures of your volunteerism and use the hashtag . Afterwards, log your hours on america250.org/america-gives for them to be counted towards the national total.

Next Saturday, October 24th, is Montana Makes A Difference Day! Join with Montana 250, ServeMontana, and our partners to volunteer at least two hours of your time in service!

You can find project in your community through Montana Lions Clubs, Montana United Ways, Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement & affiliates, and the Montana Food Bank Network! Or create your own day of service.

Then report your hours donated at America250’s America Gives so we can track how many hours Montanans volunteered. And if Saturday doesn’t work - find some time around that weekend.

And don’t forget to share your story with us here using the hashtag .

A week ago, the second cohort of Community Health Corps Montana Montana Office of Rural Health and Area Health Education Center came together for their orientation. During this information packed two and a half day training they learned about the program, AmeriCorps, relationship building, and much more!

Our Program Officer, Kristina, presented the History of National Service and our Fiscal Officer, Keena, swore the members in with the AmeriCorps Pledge. This was a fantastic event and we were excited to be a part of it!

The first cohort of Community Health Corps Montana did such great work in our state! We look forward to seeing everything this year's cohort will be able to accomplish.

Celebrating the first cohort of Community Health Corps Montana (CHCM) AmeriCorps members.

Over eight months, CHCM members contributed nearly 8,500 service hours with organizations across Montana. Together, their work reached more than 750 community members, engaged more than 50 volunteers, and helped host organizations build capacity to address needs in their communities.

For small organizations, that additional support can make a meaningful difference. As one host site partner shared, “We are a small staff, and the additional support from AmeriCorps allowed us to reach more of the community.”

But the impact goes both ways. CHCM members gained experience, built connections, and became part of the communities they served. One member reflected, “I learned so much over my service term and met so many awesome people! I am honored that I was (I hope) able to make a positive, lasting impact on my local community.”

We’re proud to celebrate this first cohort and the time, energy, and care they brought to communities across Montana. Congratulations to all of our CHCM members and host site partners on a successful first year.

On the 25th anniversary, we honor and remember the brave souls lost on September 11, 2001—workers, first responders, and volunteers whose courage will never be forgotten. Their sacrifice reminds us of the resilience and unity that emerged from such a profound tragedy. Let us continue to stand together, to carry forward this spirit of compassion and solidarity.
