This week, we practiced drafting at the station.

Knowing how to draft is especially important and critical for rural departments. Often times, a hydrant or filling station can be miles away or not available at all.

It can take a long time to set up a water shuttle from the nearest water source. However, a lot of residents have ponds, creeks, and even swimming pools much closer that we can draft from if we need to.

Strong to severe thunderstorms will develop ahead of a cold front this afternoon and evening. Some storms may contain damaging wind gusts, a brief tornado, and quarter-sized hail. Have multiple ways to receive warning information and stay weather aware .

We would like to thank Sandusky County EMS for bringing Life Squad 14 to our station and providing training last night. It was a great opportunity to get familiar with the rig and equipment so we can assist on medical calls or anything EMS needs help with at an emergency scene such as vehicle crashes.
