Starting is simple, just add what you know.

“I’m Nigerian, and I also have African American cousins who want to know more about their ancestry. So family history is an opportunity to help my community.

"I’m really inspired by my dad. Because his father died in the war, he had to go through poverty. And he spent all his life trying to make a living. He sponsored all his younger brothers to go to school while he didn't go to school. He kept on working.

"When he was about 40 years old, he decided to go to school to get his college degree. And then he got his degree, and I could vividly remember going to school, and then my dad was also going to school as well. Now, I can add what I know about my dad to FamilySearch so that his legacy can be remembered.

"Family history renewed my confidence in myself, renewed my knowledge about my ancestors and the kind of strengths they possessed—the kind of feats they accomplished during their lifetime. This has given me the courage and the confidence and the belief that I can actually do difficult things. I can achieve great things in life and leave a legacy for my descendants."—Chukwudi
