Air Quality Alert
Due to multiple fires in Utah and surrounding states, air quality may be poor across our district as smoke moves into the area.

People who may be more sensitive to smoke include:

-People with asthma, COPD, or other respiratory conditions
-People with heart disease
-Pregnant individuals
-Older adults
-Infants and young children

How to protect yourself:

-Stay indoors when possible
-Keep windows and doors closed
-Avoid outdoor exercise or strenuous activity
-Run an air purifier if available
-If you have central air, set it to recirculate and use a clean filter if possible
-If you must be outside for extended periods, consider a well-fitted N95 mask
-Keep medications, inhalers, and other medical supplies easily available if you have a chronic condition

If you experience symptoms such as trouble breathing, chest pain, severe coughing, dizziness, or worsening asthma/COPD symptoms, seek medical care.

Check current air quality conditions specific to your area at air.utah.gov.

As we move into the close of National Police Week, I want to take a moment to remember all of those men and women who have sacrificed their lives while protecting their individual communities. To the families of those who have lost their loved ones, I want you to always remember that their legacy will continue to move on through each and every one of us as we continue our pursuit to protect our individual communities.

I also want to express my sincere appreciation to those who continue to serve their communities in our neighboring agencies. Price City Police Department, Carbon County Sheriff's Office Utah, Wellington Police, East Carbon Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Department of Corrections, and Utah Department of Natural Resources.

Lastly, I want to specifically thank our department members, Officer Chris Shaw, Officer Lara Olson, Officer Garrett Newman, and Officer Valdiviezo. Thank you to each of your dedication to the Helper community and your continued support to create a safer and better environment for us all.
