Thank you Hemingford Public Schools for allowing our members to come talk to your students today for Fire Prevention Week. 🔥

We always enjoy meeting with the students and allowing them to try on our gear, check out the trucks and spray some water. 💧

The future is bright for our soon-to-be Hemingford firefighters! 😎

🚨 Our very own Chief Buchheit was interviewed by 10/11 CBS News in Lincoln regarding the proposed state fire marshal budget cuts. 💵

These decisions impact our community and the more people know, the better chance we have to prevent it from happening.

Training is critical when it comes to fighting any fire. The better prepared we are as a department the better outcome we will have. When it comes to preventing loss of life, property and folks' livelihoods, we take this very seriously.

Luke Renken, an Eagle fire captain who sits on the rural fire board and teaches part time at Fire School, said the cuts could put training out of reach for some departments.

We rely on Alliance Fire Department for our paramedic needs on medical calls, as well as mutual aid for any type of incident.

For many years, Brad has jumped into our ambulance and assisted us with our critical medical calls. As well as working larger incidents alongside us, through our mutual aid requests. 🚑 🚒

Congratulations again Chief Schrum!! 👨‍🚒

Praying for peace and strength for the family, friends, and fellow firefighters at Crawford VFD during this difficult time.

As a neighboring department, we had the honor to work alongside Bill on many incidents.

"As firefighters, we are a family, a brotherhood and sisterhood bonded by a shared commitment to serve and protect our community. When one of us falls, we all grieve."

Rest easy, brother. We'll take it from here. 🕊

Funeral services for CVFD Assistant Chief Bill Lux will be held Friday, September 18th at 2:00 pm at the Crawford Community Building. A live stream will be available for those unable to attend, details will be provided at a later date. Procession to follow with burial at the Crawford Cemetery. Reception at the Crawford Fire Hall, please bring lawn chairs and come share your memories.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to Cole Baumann and his wife Shayleen, at Knox Road Taxidermy for their donation from the bump-and-run car raffle tickets. 🎟

One of our very own department members, Mark Klemke won the raffle and drove the car during the event. 🏁 🏎

The Baumann family visited the fire station this week and presented HVFD with a check donation for $2,780.00 to be split with all the Pine Ridge Mutual Aid Association (PRMAA) departments. Those departments include: Alliance, Angostura, Ardmore, Chadron, Crawford, Harrison, Hay Springs, Heart of the Hills, Hemingford, Gordon, Merriman & Rushville. 🚒 🚑

This is just another great example of how we have a wonderful community that supports us! Thank you to all that purchased tickets and/or made a donation, we thank you all!! 👏
