Happy Columbus Day!

Today, we recognize the importance of understanding our shared history and learning from the many perspectives and experiences that continue to shape our country.

May the day be an opportunity for reflection, learning, and a greater appreciation of the stories that connect us.

Kindness can make a bigger difference than we realize. 💙

This National Bullying Prevention Month, let’s remember that we all have a role in helping young people feel safe and supported.

Stand up for others. Offer support. Choose kindness. Small actions can have a lasting impact.

Together, we can help create safer, stronger communities where every child feels valued and supported.

Mental health challenges can affect anyone. During Mental Illness Awareness Week, we’re reminding Long Island that reaching out for help is a sign of strength.

Open conversations, compassion and access to the right support can make a meaningful difference. Through HCC’s Mental Health Outpatient Treatment and Rehabilitative Services (MHOTRS) program, help is available.

You are not alone. Support is available. 💚

Back to school also means getting back into the rhythm of homework, projects and busy after-school schedules. 📚

Hispanic Counseling Center’s Teen Drop-In Center (TDIC) gives middle and high school students a safe, welcoming place to spend their after-school hours while getting the support they need to succeed.

Students can receive homework and academic support, mentoring, STEM enrichment and opportunities to participate in field trips and other activities — all in a supportive environment where they can learn, connect and grow.

The program is free and open to middle and high school students from any school district.

Meet Janet Anderson, Youth & Family Program Coordinator at Hispanic Counseling Center!

Janet plays an important role in the programs, events and initiatives that support the youth and families HCC serves. One of those programs is HCC’s Teen Drop-In Center (TDIC), which provides middle and high school students with a safe, welcoming place to spend their after-school hours.

Through the program, students receive academic support, mentoring and opportunities to participate in STEM workshops, field trips and other enriching activities. HCC staff also work closely with families, helping parents navigate the school system and supporting students as they work toward graduating high school and preparing for their futures.

Thank you, Janet, for your dedication to strengthen and support opportunities for youth and their families! ❤️

Recovery is possible, and every recovery story matters.

During National Recovery Month, HCC recognizes that recovery looks different for everyone. With compassionate treatment and resources, individuals and families affected by substance use can find a path forward.

Hispanic Counseling Center’s Substance Use Disorder Outpatient Program (SUDOP) provides support through individual and group counseling, relapse prevention, coping skills, education and other services designed to help individuals on their path to recovery.

A conversation can make a difference.

On World Su***de Prevention Day, we’re reminded of the importance of checking in with the people around us.

Mental health deserves the same care and attention as physical health. Through HCC’s Mental Health Outpatient Treatment and Rehabilitative Services (MHOTRS), individuals can connect with professional support and services designed to help them navigate mental health challenges.
