Andrews Ave is back open.

Road Closure:

Andrews Ave (NC-39) will be closed from Chestnut Street to Garnett Street for an extended period of time. DOT is in route to assist with an oversized load.

Please avoid this area if possible and use alternative routes.

Henderson, NC – Friday, October 16, 2026

At approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning, officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to a single-vehicle collision on Interstate 85 Northbound near Exit 213 (Dabney Drive).

Preliminary information indicates that a tractor-trailer struck the support columns of the Dabney Drive overpass. The driver was alert and responsive at the scene but was transported to an area medical facility for further evaluation.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) was notified and is assessing the situation.

At this time, northbound traffic on I-85 is being diverted, and the Dabney Drive overpass has been closed to traffic. There is currently no estimated timeframe for reopening either roadway.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes, anticipate significant traffic delays, and exercise caution when traveling in the area.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Henderson Police Department.

A runaway juvenile, Asad Bolding-Murphy, 13, was last seen near Pettigrew Street on 10/11/2026 around 7:23 p.m. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black joggers with white stripes. Please contact the Henderson Police Department at (252)438-4141 or 911 with any information regarding his location.
