The members of Church Hill VFD want to say THANK YOU for all of the donations that were given!

The fire season isn’t over yet and neither is the love being shown from our community. I didn’t get a picture with everyone that donated but I did snag a few.

We also want to give a HUGE shout out to all of the people that showed up on some of our calls and stayed for hours handing out food and drinks to everyone on scene. You guys truly kept us all going.

Most people only see the ones that respond to the calls but many departments are backed by friends, family, and neighbors that support us behind the scenes.

Not only did we receive donations from big and small businesses, but for many individuals

So again, THANK YOU ❤️

Just another reminder, We are still under a burn ban as of 9/21/26
We are happy with a short shower of rain but it is not enough to lift the ban or burn safely.

Currently under a burn ban 🚫🔥

NOTICE
We are very thankful for the showers that some of Rusk County received today BUT
it was not enough to lift the burn ban!

This morning, our Church Hill VFD family joined Rusk County for the 3rd annual 9/11 Memorial Walk. It was a special morning to come together and remember all of those who lost their lives, the first responders who ran toward the danger, and everyone whose lives were forever changed that day.

Thank you to everyone that helped make this event happen. There is something so special when the community comes together to show our support.

🇺🇸 25 YEARS. NEVER FORGOTTEN. 🇺🇸

Today, Church Hill Volunteer Fire Department remembers September 11, 2001 and the 2,977 lives lost that day.

We especially honor the 343 firefighters of the FDNY, along with the police officers, EMTs, military members, and countless heroes who ran toward danger while others were running away.

Their courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood will never be forgotten.

25 years later, we remember their names.
We honor their sacrifice.
We will NEVER forget.

On September 7, 2026 at 2:55pm Church Hill VFD was dispatched to the area of FM 3135 & Co Rd 223 to assist Henderson FD with a grass and woods fire. On arrival Henderson FD and CHVFD found a fast moving grass fire headed into the woods.

Ultimately with assistance from the Texas A&M Forest Service the fire was contained.

Reminder that even with the rain parts of the county received over the past week it is still extremely dry and the conditions are right for a small spark to start a large and fast moving fire.

We would like to thank Rusk County Sheriffs Office and Texas DPS for providing traffic control in the area to allow firefighters to work.
