With cooler temps coming this weekend it may seem like a great time for a fire but please remember we are still under a burn ban. The state has even issued a warning for our area of worsening fire conditions.

Also be aware that violation tickets are being given for those that disregard the burn ban.

So we hope you all enjoy the cooler weather but please don’t burn, it won’t be enjoyable for anyone if you end up seeing us at your house!

🛑 LOOK AROUND. WE ARE NOT KIDDING ABOUT THE BURN BAN. 🛑
East Texas weather today is basically serving up prime wildfire fuel: bone-dry air, humidity hovering near zero, and enough wind to make a bad decision catastrophic in about four seconds.
We know your brush pile is mocking you from the backyard. We know you’ve been dying to torch those fallen branches. But unless you want a department under Rusk County ESD #1 to show up uninvited with a bunch of flashing red lights and a very disappointed look on our faces, do not strike a match.
The burn ban is still very much in effect. That means:
* No, your burn pile is not an exception
* No, burning trash on a windy day is not a DIY weekend project.
* Yes, we will show up, and it won't be to social-distance with you.
Let’s save the excitement for the weekend and keep our crews inside the station. Secure your sparks, put out the cigarette butts responsibly, and leave the burning to nobody.
Stay safe out there, neighbors!
