Happy Friday from Carlisle Fire and Rescue! Cooler temperatures are here, but gusty winds and low humidity mean extreme fire danger for the next 72 hours.

A burn ban is strictly in effect for our county. NO OUTDOOR BURNING IS PERMITTED. Extra state firefighting resources are nearby, and we will share updates as conditions change. Stay safe this weekend!

🚨 **BURN BAN REMINDER** 🚨

Even though we received some rain yesterday, Rusk County remains under an active burn ban.

PLEASE DO NOT BURN.
Conditions can still be dangerously dry, and one small fire can quickly become uncontrollable.

We understand that trash may be building up, please use the resources available with the Rusk county collection sites!

Help us protect our homes, property, and community. Do not burn until the burn ban has been lifted.

🇺🇸 REMEMBERING 9/11 — 25 YEARS LATER 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years have passed since September 11, 2001, but we will NEVER FORGET.
On that morning, our nation was changed forever. Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost, including 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 8 EMTs and paramedics who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks.
They ran toward the danger while others were running away.
Today, we remember the victims, honor the first responders who gave their lives, and recognize the countless firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and civilians who answered the call in the days, weeks, months, and years that followed.
We also remember the families who were left behind — families who have carried that loss for 25 years.
As first responders, we understand the meaning of answering the call. We may not know what awaits us when the tones drop, but we go because someone needs help.
25 years later, their sacrifice still matters.
Their courage still inspires.
Their names still matter.
And we will never forget.
🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — Never Forget.
🚒 Honor the Fallen. Remember the Sacrifice. Answer the Call.

**Good news for Rusk County:** We may finally be getting some much-needed moisture—enough to provide a brief reprieve from the heat and wildfires.

The bad news is that heavy rainfall in a short amount of time could cause flooding because of the hard, dry ground and increased runoff. Lightning associated with these thunderstorms could also spark holdover fires.

We’ll take the good with the bad and continue praying for much-needed relief and safety for our community.

Last night, we mentioned that the approaching tropical system was not forecast to give us much rain. Mother Nature decided she didn’t appreciate that tone. Our firefighters will welcome a slight reprieve from a busy month. Flood watch in effect until 7 AM Thursday.
