History charting through our locks and rivers ⚓️!

The legendary USS LST-325, the last fully operational Landing Ship, Tank from WWII, recently completed an incredible journey down the Cumberland River.

The LST-325 relied on the navigable waterways and lock systems maintained by the USACE Nashville District to travel safely from state to state. From adjusting ballast tanks for shallow river depths to maneuvering into our lock chambers, our lock masters and the ship’s crew worked together to keep this incredible piece of history moving. While the 2026 fall tour has wrapped up, you can still step aboard this living museum by visiting its permanent home port in Evansville, Indiana.

Check out our video and read our article below to learn more about the history of the LST-325, and it's journey through our locks!

Always wear an engine cutoff device and a life jacket. If you capsize, stay with your boat, unless the shore is very close. The lake’s shore may look easy to reach, but often cold water, waves, current, exhaustion, or injury can make the swim deadly.

While Hurricane Isaias is currently tracking to just brush our area with 0.75 to 1.25 inches of rain, the USACE Nashville District is actively managing our lakes to prepare for any sudden forecast changes.

The silver lining to this year’s historic drought? 🌧️

Our reservoirs, including Wolf Creek, Dale Hollow, and J. Percy Priest, have plenty of room to safely store any heavy runoff. We urge all marina operators and dock owners to stay weather-aware over the next 72 hours and secure their property just in case. The public should pay attention to flood warnings and flash food alerts from the National Weather Service. Most of all stay safe! ⚓
