We had so much fun when Putnam County CUSD #535 2nd Grade visited the Granville Branch on Thursday! Our librarians gave the students a tour, showed them how to find great books, and wrapped up the visit with a story.

Attention Teachers: We would love to host your class! If you'd like to plan a group visit to any of our branches, give us a call at 815-339-2038. We are also happy to help you find and gather books for your classroom projects!

As we wrap up the Project Next Generation "From Soil to Stars: Discover Science All Around," grant, we are in the process of cataloging our Earth Explorers and Sky Explorers kits so patrons, teachers, and informal educators can utilize them.

We were also able to purchase a Stream Table (pictured below), which provides a hands-on way to demonstrate how moving water shapes the landscape through erosion, sediment transport, and deposition, as well as how streams and watersheds change over time. The Stream Table joins our Groundwater Bedrock Simulator, which demonstrates how water moves through soil, rock, and underground formations. Together, these hands-on tools will help participants explore both surface water and groundwater in future library programs.

Funding for the Project Next Generation grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
