Henniker Community School Henniker's community school for pre-school through grade 8. A part of School Administrative Unit 24.

Our Core Beliefs...

We believe that each child is important and that as a school we must reinforce the self-worth of our students by respecting their individual rights and beliefs and providing them access to a curriculum that accommodates their individual interests, challenges them, and stimulates their inner drive to learn. We believe that learning happens over a lifetime and is a process involving risk-taking, failure, and success and that as a school we must help students to understand this process as necessary for success in school and in the 21st century workplace. We believe that we are partners in the learning process and that the school can only help each student to develop as creative problem solvers, critical thinkers, and ethical decision makers through an engaging partnership with the Henniker community and its families.

Last week we welcomed Inspector Stephen Dennis and his K-9 partner Dougie to the HCS Library. Mrs. Maquardt organized this opportunity for our students in collaboration with Inspector Dennis, who is a Henniker resident and HCS parent. Inspector Dennis read a book to our students and taught them about the work that Dougie does to help gather evidence at fire scenes. Together they completed more than 200 hours of specialized training with Maine Specialty Dogs and earned certification through the Maine State Police under the standards of the Maine Criminal Justice System. Thank you so much to Inspector Dennis, Dougie, and Mrs. Marquardt!

Yesterday in Mr. TW's science class, Farmer Phil from Zulip Farms came to talk about his work with sustainable farming and how it connects to the 5th graders' scientific investigation into nurse logs. He answered many insightful questions from students about his farm and the science behind the nurse log phenomenon. Ask your 5th grader about what a nurse log is and how it connects to sustainable farming

ALL paperwork and concussion testing must be completed before tryouts.

Concussion testing will be held in the HCS Library 8/24/26 @11:00am (testing is for new athletes 5-8th. If you took this within the last 2yrs you are all set)
