Support Bluegrove VFD – Help Us Bring Our New Fire Truck Home!
Bluegrove Volunteer Fire Department is excited to share that our new apparatus (pictured) is scheduled for delivery around March 2027. Thanks to a generous $250,000 grant from the Texas A&M Forest Service, we are already well on our way—but we still need to raise approximately $50,000 by that time to fully equip and ready the truck for service.
This versatile truck will significantly strengthen our response capabilities, including:

Structure fires
Vehicle/car fires
Medical emergencies
Grass and wildland fires

We concur with the Judge in asking everyone to call the non-emergency line before doing any burning. This prevents us from receiving unnecessary calls.

Based on the advice of Clay County Emergency Management Coordinator Keith Burch and the Volunteer Fire Chiefs of Clay County, I am lifting the Burn Ban that was due to expire on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. This will allow those outside the incorporated areas to safely complete projects that require burning.

We encourage those planning a controlled burn to use good judgment and call the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number. This helps us avoid false alarms when neighbors see smoke. The number to call is 940-538-5611.

At 9:35 pm tonite Joy VFD was toned to a grass fire at Sears Mayfield Rd and Old Joy Shannon Rd. This was a lightning start and with the help of cooperators from Bluegrove VFD, Vashti VFD, and Windthorst VFD this fire was held to approximately 50 acres. Good work by all involved and thank you to all of our neighbors who helped out. A special shout out to Clay County EMC Kieth Burch for his assistance and guidance. There are several large brush piles that will continue to smolder and burn for the next couple days. They will put off smoke and a glow at night. However, if you think you see a fire that needs to be checked in, don’t hesitate to call 911.

Yes, like many of you, we see the smoke and haze floating through Bluegrove. This is all coming from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties. Please pray for the firefighters and landowners. The fire is now estimated to be over 50,000 acres. Some of our own have gone to Jack County to help with the effort. Stay resilient, and still report anything you think looks suspicious so we can investigate just in case.

Thank you to Friberg-Cooper Volunteer Fire Department for allowing us to play in your annual scramble. We always appreciate the cooperation between departments. I invite all our teams that play in our annual scramble to come play a different course and support our neighbors to the northwest in their efforts to fund the ever-expanding annual costs of running a volunteer fire department.
