HENRY ROTARY SPECIAL BREAKFAST SAUSAGE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR HOLIDAY SEASON
The Henry Rotary Club will make their Special Recipe Breakfast Sausage available for your holiday get togethers with your families. The sausage can be purchased in uncooked bundles of either 4 oz links or bulk sausage; cost is $13 for two lbs. Pre-purchase sales of sausage will be available through October 21st, 2026. This gives the Sheffield Meat Locker time to process the fresh breakfast sausage. Pick-up will be at the Henry American Legion Chicken Fry on Friday, November 6th from 5 – 7 pm. Please order your sausage as early as possible. Sausage can be purchased from any Rotarian, MidAmerica National Bank, Michelle Monier (LaPrairie Mutual) at 309-238-4633 or by texting Roger Masters at 309-657-1097.
Proceeds from the Rotary sausage sales are used as part of the Henry Rotary Club community outreach program. Organizations such as the Scouts, Red stocking, Food Pantry, and the Henry Schools receive donations from the club.

PEORIA SUB VETS TO CELEBRATE CAPTAIN JOHN PHILLIP CROMWELL AND 9-11 REMEMBERANCE
The Peoria Base United States Submarine Veterans, in conjunction with the Henry American Legion Post 323, will honor Captain John Phillip Cromwell, Medal of Honor recipient, on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 5:30 pm in Central Park. Captain Cromwell was born in Henry on September 11, 1901. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for his actions in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
The Sub Vets will also perform the Tolling For The Boats Ceremony. For those of you who are not familiar with submarines and submariners, I would like to offer an explanation of the ceremony. Since the birth of our underwater Navy in 1900, many sacrifices, loss of life, and a universal dedication to duty, have made our volunteer service what it is today. These accomplishments did not come easy or without the “can do” spirit possessed by those who wear the coveted Dolphin Insignia with pride and dignity. The U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War Two originally established the "Tolling for the Boats" ceremony. It is a unique and time-honored memorial service and is in keeping with the finest traditions of the Navy. Customs have established that this ceremony is formal, and it honors the memory of those submariners who lost their lives in the line of duty, especially the majority who perished during World War Two.
