Deaf Smith County Constable What does a Constable Do in Texas? Serves as a licensed peace officer and performs various law enforcement functions, including issuing traffic citations.

Serves warrants and civil papers such as subpoenas and temporary restraining orders. My name is Bryan Hedrick, and I am proud to have served as a peace officer since graduating from the Panhandle Regional Law Enforcement Academy in 1982. In 1999, I was honored to be elected as the Deaf Smith County Constable, a role I have held with dedication and commitment. In 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in our office with the addition of Deputy Brady Moberly to the Deaf Smith County Constable's Office. This marked a historic moment, as it is the first time in the county's history that the office has included a deputy constable.

The Hereford Police Department is proud to recognize Lt. Daniel Garcia for completing Master Level School-Based Law Enforcement Training.

On Monday evening, the Hereford ISD school board, Safety and Security Administrator Bryan Hedrick, members of the HISD faculty, and Hereford Police Department staff joined in congratulating Lt. Garcia on this outstanding accomplishment. Only a small fraction of school resource officers reach the master level of training, making this an exceptional achievement.

Lt. Garcia‘s dedication to continued training, student safety, and positive relationships within our schools, reflects the high standard of service he brings to the community every day. We are fortunate to have him serving in this important role and appreciate all he does for Hereford ISD, its students, staff, families, and the Hereford community.

Please join us in congratulating Lt. Garcia on this well earned accomplishment!

🚗Back to School = Back to Extra Caution on the Road!

With students heading back to class, here’s what every driver needs to know to keep our kids safe:

Around School Buses
🚌 Slow down when you see a bus — kids can dart into the road unexpectedly
🚦 Be extra alert at railroad crossings, where buses are required to stop
🛑 Know the law: If a bus has flashing red lights on, you MUST stop — no matter which direction you’re driving — unless there’s a physical barrier or median between you. A center turn lane does NOT count as a divider!

The Cost of Not Stopping
💸 First offense for illegally passing a school bus: up to $1,250 in fines
🚫 Repeat offenses: possible license suspension up to 6 months
⚖️ Serious injury caused? That can mean criminal charges

A Few More Reminders
🐢 Obey posted speed limits in school zones — always

👨‍👩‍👧 Beyond the road: talk to your kids about safety and situational awareness for emergencies or severe weather this school year. A few minutes of conversation now can make all the difference.

Let’s all do our part to get every student home safely. 💙
