WE NEED YOUR KIDS’ CLOTHING!

Did you know that the children’s clothing donated to the Family Resource Center goes right back into the hands of local children who need it most?

Starting in January 2027, we are bringing the Family Resource Center directly into Citrus County elementary schools!

Our first stop? Forest Ridge Elementary School!

Through our newest program, The Pit Stop, we will provide children and their families with access to essential resources, including clothing, shoes, food, toiletries, school supplies, and more.

We know that transportation and access to resources can be barriers for families. Instead of waiting for families to come to us, we are going to them!

But we need YOUR help!

We are collecting gently used children’s clothing, sizes 6–18/20, to help stock our first Pit Stop and prepare for future schools.

This is no small undertaking. Our goal is to eventually bring The Pit Stop to all 11 elementary schools in Citrus County. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about this community, it’s that when we come together, incredible things happen!

Clean out those closets, gather those clothes your kids have outgrown, and help us make a difference!

Christmas magic is already happening in Citrus County!

Our amazing friends over at Duke Energy spent a few hours tonight at Walmart shopping for the 60 children their employees sponsored through the Family Resource Center’s Christmas Project!

It takes a special group of people to give not only their money, but also their time, to make sure children in our community have a Christmas to remember.

We are so incredibly thankful for the employees at Duke Energy who continue to show up for our community year after year.

60 children. 60 reasons to smile on Christmas morning.

Exciting things are happening at the Family Resource Center, and we can hardly contain our excitement!

We are busy preparing for the launch of The Pit Stop, our newest program that will bring essential resources directly into Citrus County elementary schools!

Our first Pit Stop will open at Forest Ridge Elementary in January 2027! Through this program, we will provide children with clothing, shoes, emergency food, hygiene products, school supplies, and connections to additional resources. We’re removing barriers and meeting children where they are!

And while we’re preparing for this exciting new chapter, it’s beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS around the Family Resource Center!

Our Christmas Project is in full swing, and we’re getting ready to bring joy, hope, and a little Christmas magic to thousands of children throughout Citrus County.

Between preparing for The Pit Stop and getting ready for Christmas, our buildings are buzzing with activity, donations are coming in, and our volunteers are gearing up for one of our busiest seasons!

Different programs. One mission. Making sure children in Citrus County have the needs, experiences, and opportunities they deserve.

We have so much to look forward to, and none of it would be possible without the incredible community standing behind us.

The Family Resource Center is entering an exciting new chapter, and we’re just getting started!

HELP US BRING HOME THE WIN!

The Family Resource Center needs YOUR vote for Citrus County’s Favorite Local Business!

Why vote for us?

Because we’re not afraid to change how we serve our community to better meet the needs of children and families!

The Family Resource Center is entering an exciting new chapter, focusing on three programs that provide needs, experiences, and opportunities for children throughout Citrus County.

The Pit Stop – We’re bringing resource rooms directly into elementary schools, starting with Forest Ridge Elementary in January 2027! By providing food, clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and family support right where children are, we’re eliminating transportation barriers and making resources more accessible.

The Christmas Project – Last year, we helped make Christmas brighter for 2,150 local children, ensuring they experienced the joy and magic of the holiday season.

The Birthday Project – Launching in January 2027, this program will help ensure children in our community feel celebrated and special on their birthdays.

We’re not waiting for families to find us. We’re finding new ways to reach them!

As a community-funded nonprofit, everything we accomplish is made possible by the generosity of Citrus County.

Please vote for the Family Resource Center and COMMENT WHY you believe we deserve to win!

Together, we’re building a brighter future for Citrus County’s children.

WE’RE NOT WAITING FOR FAMILIES TO COME TO US. WE’RE GOING TO THEM!

For years, the Family Resource Center has worked to remove barriers for children and families throughout Citrus County. But we’ve come to realize something important…

Sometimes, the biggest barrier to getting help is simply getting to the help.

🚗 What happens when a family doesn’t have transportation?

⛽ What happens when a parent can’t afford the gas to drive across town?

❤️ What happens when a child needs shoes, clean clothes, food, or basic hygiene products, but their family doesn’t know where to turn?

The need is there. The resources aren’t always within reach.

And that’s why we’re changing how we serve our community.

INTRODUCING THE PIT STOP!

Instead of expecting families to find their way to the Family Resource Center, we’re bringing our services directly into Citrus County elementary schools!

Through The Pit Stop, we’re creating school-based resource rooms where children and families can access:

🍎 Shelf-stable food for the family

👕 Clothing and shoes

🧴 Toiletries and hygiene essentials

🎒 School supplies

🏕️ Emergency essentials for families experiencing housing instability

Family support and connections to community resources

Our first Pit Stop will open at Forest Ridge Elementary in January 2027!

We’re proud to partner with the Citrus County Education Foundation to help make this vision a reality.

And Forest Ridge is just the beginning. Our goal is to eventually bring The Pit Stop to all 11 Citrus County elementary schools.

Think about what this means.

A child who needs a new pair of shoes won’t have to wait for their parent to find transportation across town.

A family struggling to put food on the table can be connected with resources through a place they already know and trust.

A teacher or school social worker who sees a child struggling with basic needs will have another resource right there at school.

We’re eliminating barriers by going directly to where the need exists.

This isn’t about changing our mission. It’s about finding a better way to accomplish it.

Because a child’s ability to succeed shouldn’t depend on whether their family has a vehicle, gas money, or the ability to take time off work.

And we need our community to help make this possible!

For just $20 a month or $240 a year, you can help provide the essential needs of a local child.

We’re also looking for businesses, churches, organizations, and individuals willing to donate supplies, volunteer, or partner with us.

For 40 years, the Family Resource Center has been part of this community. Now we’re taking our next step forward.

We’re not moving away from the families we serve. We’re moving closer to them.
