NO FOOD GOES TO WASTE PROGRAM; Our no food goes to waste program was established when High Desert Second Chance realized the amount of non-edible for human consumption supplies being thrown into dumpsters. Knowing that there were livestock owners, ranchers and local farmers who depend on supplies such as these to keep their livestock fed we began reaching out to our animal community to begin recycling any and all non-edible for human consumption fruits and veggies to our farming community. Not only is this a huge benefit to our farming community but the impact on our environment by reverting items destined for landfills to be recycled cuts down on our carbon foot print.

πŸ¦πŸŽ‰ A Sweet New Addition to Apple Valley! πŸŽ‰πŸ¦

High Desert Second Chance had the pleasure of attending yesterday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony as Ambassador with our Greater High Desert Chamber for Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream in Apple Valley!

What a wonderful celebration welcoming a new business to our community! And of course, we couldn't leave without tasting some of their absolutely delicious ice cream! πŸ¨πŸ˜‹

We are always excited to see new businesses opening their doors, creating opportunities, and contributing to the growth of our beautiful High Desert community.

🍦 And we're already spreading the sweetness! High Desert Second Chance is already purchasing Handel’s Ice Cream gift cards for some of our lucky costume contest winners at this Saturday’s Hesperia Parks & Recreation Trunk or Treat event! πŸŽƒπŸ‘»πŸ¬ What better way to celebrate a new local business than by sharing a delicious treat with our community's little winners!

Congratulations to Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream! We wish you tremendous success and many sweet years ahead! We're excited to support you and welcome you to the High Desert business community! πŸ’™πŸ¦

πŸš—β€οΈ OVER 150 CARS, AN INCREDIBLE CROWD, AND A COMMUNITY UNITED FOR A CAUSE! β€οΈπŸš—

Yesterday's Sun City Cruisers End-of-Year Car Show was nothing short of amazing! Over 150 beautiful cars, a venue packed with people, and excitement surrounding the awardsβ€”all in support of High Desert Second Chance!

But what truly deserves recognition is the incredible dedication of the Sun City Cruisers board and its members.

Each year, they select one local nonprofit to support and spend the entire year organizing concerts, spaghetti dinners, breakfast fundraisers, and one of the biggest car shows we've seen in the High Desert. The amount of time, planning, physical labor, and commitment behind these events is extraordinary.

As President of High Desert Second Chance, I've had the privilege of witnessing their hard work firsthand. I've watched board members preparing meals in the kitchen, running from one end of an event to the other, coordinating registrations, shirt orders, vendors, and countless details that most people never see.

This isn't just fundraising. It's a movement of people working together, giving their time and energy, and putting their hearts into making a difference for others.

Throughout this year, I've had the opportunity to get to know many of these wonderful individuals personally, and my respect and admiration for them have only grown.

To every Sun City Cruisers board member, member, volunteer, and supporterβ€”THANK YOU! ❀️

You are truly one of a kind. Your generosity, dedication, and love for this community are something special. We cannot say it enough: High Desert Second Chance is incredibly grateful and honored to have been your chosen nonprofit this year.

You don't just host events. You bring people together, inspire generosity, and create a lasting impact in our community.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Christina Kennedy

Celebrating Halloween with Rockn’ Our Disabilities at its new home at Town’s End this past Saturday was nothing short of spectacular!

Families and vendors came out in droves to embrace and support the new surroundings. The spacious venue provided plenty of room for the creativity and individuality of each vendor’s booth, while still preserving that warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes the Rockn’ family so unique.

What truly stood out was the heart behind it all; a community coming together in support of Rockn’ Our Disabilities and its unwavering commitment to its mission.

The new location may offer a fresh setting, but the spirit, dedication, and sense of family that define this organization remain at the center of everything they do.

High Desert Second Chance will always commit and support our Rockn' partner, and this year was no exception: we were thrilled to be a sponsor at one of our favorite events!

Thank you to our amazing volunteer, Tonia, for lending a helping hand at our booth, sharing information and candy with attendees throughout the afternoon.

And thank you to everyone who came out, participated, and helped make this Halloween celebration such a memorable success!

Tomorrow, Wednesday October 14th, Feeding America Riverside San Bernardino Counties, arrives at High Desert Second Chance for its Senior Mobile Pantry food distribution program.

Beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 11 a.m.(or earlier if supplies run out), High Desert Second Chance will assist Feeding America in distributing the food boxes to the first 250 attendees.

Please note that Feeding America is limiting the supplies to 250, so a "first come, first serve" will be in effect.

Entrance to our parking is at the gate on Chestnut St.

If you drive into our structure from Smoke Tree, you will be redirected.

As our student lunch program is set to resume again for the Fall break this Monday, October 12th, we'd like to share some memories of our summer break activity.

This past summer, hundreds of families joined us with their children to select a variety of meals and snacks to help keep them nourished throughout the week. It was nine weeks of food, fun, and making memories together!

At High Desert Second Chance, we remain committed to supporting the students of our High Desert community by providing nutritious, satisfying meals during school breaks; all in a fun and welcoming environment where students can choose foods they’ll enjoy.

Whether you joined us throughout the nine weeks of summer or will be experiencing our Student Lunch Marketplace for the very first time, we can’t wait to welcome you!

These photos take us on a trip down memory lane and remind us of the wonderful moments we shared this summer. We’re looking forward to creating even more memories with you at our next Student Lunch Marketplace!

We’ll see you Monday at 10 am!
