🟢 Building better problem-solvers!
Capt. Darren Oshiro, 48th Aerial Port Squadron assistant director of operations, leads a process-mapping exercise during Practical Problem Solving Method training at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. PPSM is part of Green Belt academics and utilizes an eight-step method to identify challenges, improve processes and develop effective solutions.

The 44th Aerial Port Squadron spent time with family during the drill weekend at Gecko Lanes Bowling Alley, Andersen AFB, Guam. Food, games, and other activities were provided for all participants. 🍕🎳

The 624th Regional Support Group hosted a group-wide family day event at the Ilima Lanai on Joint-Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii, September 13, 2026. The event featured games and activities for both members and their families to enjoy including a kids "deployment" line, static displays, a dunk tank and a K9 demonstration!

647th Security Forces Squadron Staff Sgt. Gibran Hernandez (trainer), Staff Sgt. Kevin Pate (handler), and 3-year old Belgian Malinois MWD Snake conducted the demonstration showcasing K9 drills like tactical release and engagement.

The 44th Aerial Port Squadron hosted a mock deployment last month at Andersen AFB, Guam. From simulated in-processing, mission briefs, and a gear grab line up, to executing downrange tasks then "returning home," members and their families were able to preview and experience a deployment cycle together. Maintaining our readiness and resilience includes keeping our family and support systems ready and resilient when we are called to serve.

The 624th Civil Engineer Squadron Pavements & Construction Equipment shop cross-trained other CES AFSC members on heavy equipment such as front-end loaders and dump trucks during August UTA at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Training required members to operate vehicles through a dirt transport circuit loop.

Cross-trainings like these result in multi-capable airmen with expanded operational skillsets and strengthened readiness.

All Hawai‘i State Department of Education public schools and offices on Oʻahu and in Kauaʻi County will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 8, due to anticipated weather conditions and their potential impacts on safe school operations.

All school-related activities in the affected counties scheduled for Tuesday are also canceled, including athletic events and practices, extracurricular activities, meetings and other school events.
